Frequently asked questions
To make the illusion as convincing as possible, Revelio mimics Instagram in every detail — including its icon and name. This is intentional and essential to the trick, but it also means the app cannot be published on the Google Play Store under their impersonation policies. That's why it's distributed directly via GitHub, where you can also inspect the source code freely.
Make sure you've followed all the setup steps correctly and that the card is selected before handing the phone over. Also check that the target profile has at least one regular post — the trick only works on standard image posts, not on profiles where all content is Reels. If the issue persists, try closing and reopening the app, then re-selecting your card.
Since Revelio uses Instagram's WebView, changes to Instagram's interface can occasionally break functionality. Check the GitHub repository for updates — we push fixes as soon as possible after Instagram updates. In the meantime, try downgrading Instagram to the previous version if your device allows it.
Yes. Revelio works on any profile — public ones with no restrictions, and private ones as long as the logged-in account follows them. So the spectator can open virtually any account they know: a celebrity, a friend, a brand, anyone. The broader their choice, the more impossible it looks.
No. From the spectator's point of view, they are looking at a normal Instagram session. There are no overlays, watermarks, or visible app elements. The experience is identical to opening Instagram directly — because it essentially is.
Revelio is currently available for Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later only. iOS support is in the works and will be released in a future update — follow the GitHub repository to be notified when it drops. The app also requires the Instagram app to be installed and an active Instagram account to be logged in.
No. Revelio works with any standard deck of cards. There is no force required — the spectator has a completely free choice. The only preparation is selecting the correct card in the app before beginning the performance, which takes about 3 seconds.
Revelio does not post anything to Instagram, does not interact with any Instagram API, and does not automate any Instagram actions. It simply displays Instagram content inside a WebView. The risk to your account is minimal — however, as with any third-party app that interacts with Instagram, we cannot provide an absolute guarantee. Use at your own discretion.
Yes, Revelio is completely free and open source. It is distributed via GitHub with no payment, subscription, or in-app purchase. We have no plans to change this.
Yes. Revelio never sees, stores, or transmits your Instagram credentials. Your login is handled entirely by Instagram's own interface inside the WebView. We have no servers and collect no data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
